What can you do in 4 days?
In Bobita, 3 missionary families can throw a wedding in 4 days. Our neighbors, J.B. and Martin (pronounced Marteen) have been a faithful couple. The problem… they were common law married and wanted to be married in the church. Thursday morning it was decided that Sunday was the day. A whirlwind of preparations began. Laura Beth and Cory purchased punch, snacks and paper products when they went to Santiago for a MD appointment. Friday, Tammie and I took the happy couple shopping in Nagua (about 1.5 hours away) for wedding attire. Shopping for anything around here takes forever and clothes are usually expensive. We felt extremely blessed when we had purchase a white dress long enough for Martin, who is almost 6 ft tall, and shoes in less than a hour. We even spent less than $30. It was amazing!! Friday night and all day Saturday cake preparation commenced. Lindsey and I baked and decorated both a “traditional” wedding cake and a grooms cake. The icing began to avalanche in the heat, but we managed to hide all the flaws behind some flowers. Sunday after church services, we all decorated the “church” (the camp dining facility). The boys created a beautiful arch out of some branches and greenery. Sheer curtains doubled as fancy table clothes. Once the bride and groom were given their flowers, the wedding went off without a hitch. Their daughters Fafa and Wilmede served as ring bearer and flower girl. J.B. and Martin were so cute. They both seemed so happy, holding hands and feeding each other at the reception. We pray that God continues to bless this family. (ps I will post more wedding pictures this weekend)

Hey, that’s neat that JB and Martin got married in the church! While I’ve never heard about a wedding planned in 4 days, it sounds like it was really beautiful. Congratulations to them both; I bet their girls had fun!
